International Friendship Day 2004
On 5th April 2004, Zhangde Primary School commemorated International Friendship Day. The objective of this event was to increase the pupils' appreciation of other cultures and to encourage them to befriend people from another country.
The event kicked off with a slide show depicting pictures from various tribes in Myanmar. It gave an overview of where Myanmar is on the world map and what the country is like.
The highlight of the whole concert was when our special guests and some teachers made their appearances in their fanciful costumes and headgears. Both the teachers and the pupils were intrigued by the beautiful costumes. The six guests from Myanmar provided the pupils with a fun-filled celebration of culture, songs and dance from their country.
Pupils learnt some native words from Myanmar and participated in a mass dance in which both pupils and teachers showed off their dancing talents!
All in all, International Friendship Day 2004 was truly an enjoyable and memorable one for all Zhangde-rens as they had definitely learnt something about the beautiful country of Myanmar!
