Habitat: Arctic Size: 1.8-3.4m long; 1.6m high; 400-800kg Adaptation: can sniff out a prey over 1km away Diet: (ringed & bearded) seals, lemmings, seabirds, bird eggs, young walruses, dead whales & berries Predator(s): man hunting them for their thick fur, meat & canine teeth for jewelry
WALRUS ~ Squirt & Suck
Habitat: Arctic Size: 2.4-3.7m long; 400-1,700kg Adaptation: use its snout & sensitive whiskers to feel for food on the ocean floor Diet: clams, snails, shrimps, worms, mussels, sea cucumbers & sometimes young seals Predator(s): polar bears, orca & man hunting them for fat, meat & tusks for jewelry & artifacts
ARCTIC FOX ~ Jump & Break
Habitat: Arctic (tundra) Size: 50-70cm head body; 28-40cm tail; 2.5-8kg Adaptation: locates its prey under the snow by hearing then leaps so that it can break through the snow to catch it Diet: lemming, vole, birds & leftovers from seals killed by polar bears Predator(s): man hunting them for their fur

Habitat: mountains & Arctic (tundra) Size: 1.5-2.5m tall; 160-386kg Adaptation: keen sense of smell & can detect food far away Diet: grass, sedge, roots, berries, insects, salmon, carrion, caribou & elk Predator(s): cubs may be killed by mountain lions, wolves & other bears

Habitat: Arctic (tundra) Size: 0.3-0.4m high; 0.8-1.1m long including tail; 7-18kg Adaptation: fur is thick, oily & resistant to water, frost & snow; wolverine kits (young) are white when they are born Diet: birds, plants, squirrels, hares, carrion & caribou Predator(s): man hunting them for their fur

Habitat: mountains & Arctic (tundra) Size: 46-86cm head body; 31-56cm tail; 3-11kg Adaptation: cubs are sandy coloured, a good camouflage against predators Diet: insects, birds, frogs, lizards, rodents, rabbits, fruit & carrion Predator(s): cubs may be killed by golden eagle & horned owl
